Dog Tooth Mountain Railroad's sawmill
is devoted almost entirely to making ties. Long
before
the days of fiberboard, the sawdust and bark burner (foreground) is as busy
as the mill.
Although most of Dog Tooth Mountain Railroad was built from kits or
modified kits, the sawmill itself was built from scratch.
This detail shows the rain barrels on
the top of the sawmill building catwalk. Hoses connected to the barrels are
hanging down inside the mill just in case. No small fire will
ever get to be a big one in there.
